Quick Tips

▶️Right-click or long-press on an item in the Plex app and select "Download" from the menu. Check the content under the Downloads.

Plex is an ad-supported, free streaming service for everyone in the world to stream movies, TV shows, and music. You can get the Plex app on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Roku, LG, Samsung, Hisense, phones, game consoles, and more for unlimited binge watch. You don't need to create an account unless there are more needs.

Can I Download Video from Plex on Demand to Computer?

Plex provides a Plex Pass subscription ($4.99/month, $39.99/year, $119.99/life) to skip intro and credits, transcode hardware, and download. However, you cannot download on-demand videos from Plex to your computer with it. You can only download personal content from a Plex Media Server that you have access to, and only if the server admin has enabled download permissions for you.

Theoretically, you can download a movie from Plex if you are the server owner or you get permission from the shared server.

Download Plex Movies from the Media Server/Shared Library within the Plex App

📝Requirements:

  • The Plex Media Server owner must enable downloads for your account.
  • You need a Plex Pass subscription.
  • The server must be running version 1.16.3 or newer.
  • Both the server and the desktop app must be signed into a Plex account.

1. How to Download.

Right-click or long-press on an item to open the context menu and select "Download." This option is available when hovering over an item's poster, at the top right of pre-play screens, or in list view (e.g., music tracks in an album).
